5X - Peter, 5X4X (DL8SBQ) is active from Arua, Uganda until June. He runs 100 watts into a spiderbeam for 20, 17, 15, 12 and 10 metres and a Zepp antenna for 40 metres.

6W - SENEGAL Tom, DL2RMC, will be active as 6W/DL2RMC or possibly a 6V callsign between January 16-29th

6W. During his time in Western Africa, Peter, HA3AUI will be QRV as 6W2SC from November 15 to March 31, 2009.

C5 - Niels, OZ8KR will be active as C56KR from The Gambia on 9-14January and again from 23 January to 4 February. He will operate SSB on 40-10 metres, with wire antennas from a seaside location.

CE - Special event station XR27RAID will be active on 11-25 January for the 27th Raid Atacama Desert Trophy. Expect activity on all bands and modes.

CN - Special "happy new year" callsign CN89NY will be aired from Morocco from 21 December to 31 January.

CX - A large group of operators from the Radio Grupo Sur will be actives CV5A from Flores Island (SA-030) on 22-26 January

D2 Vasily, UA0QMN is QRV as D2QMN from Vila Catoca in the Lunda Sul province. Activity is on 40 to 10 meters using CW, SSB,RTTY and PSK. QSL via RZ3EC.

FW- WALLIS & FUTUNA ISLANDS -Eli, HA9RE, and a team of operators will be active from Wallis Island as FW0RE. The group is expected to arrive on the island January 26th. Eli states, "Provided all our baggage arrives in due time then we can begin the operation on January 28-29th." They are expected to be there for about a month. Activity will be on 160-10 meters, including 30/17/12 meters, using CW, SSB and RTTY.

H40 - H40FN, H40MS 28/02/09-16/03/09

HI - Tino, HI3CCP, will be active during the CQWW WPX RTTY Contest (February 14-15th) from Lomas del Toro in Santiago

HS - Joerg, DL1MJF (HS0ZGQ) will be active from Thailand from 20 January to 12 February. He will spend one week on Koh Samui (AS-101) during that time frame

HQ - Ray, WQ7R, will be active as HQ9R during the CQ 160-Meter CW Contest (Janaury 23-24th) as Single-Op/High-Power entry

TG/K9GY GUATEMALA -Eric, K9GY plans to be active from Guatemala as TG/K9GY (call sign tentative) for the ARRL DX CW Contest (February 21-22nd)

TR - GABON -Roland, F8EN will once again be back to Libreville, Gabon, from January 1-26th. Call sign will be TR8CR. QRV mostly 40/30/20m

TU8/F4EYS: Ivory Coast 25/12-28/02/09

TU - Phil, F4EGS is QRV as TU8/homecall from Abidjan until the end of February 2009 while on work assignment. Activity is mostly on 160 and 80 meters but he will also try the other HF bands using CW, SSB and RTTY

V31TP BELIZE -John/WC0W, Robert/K5PI and Alan/NS0B will be active from Belize as V31TP during the ARRL DX CW Contest (February 21-22nd)

V5 – NAMIBIA-Peter,V5/DL2SL, is staying in Namibia between Jan 6 and Mar 6.

VE - Amateur radio operators from Canada are allowed to use four special prefixes between 1 January and 28 February: VA can use CF,VE can use CG, VO can use CH, VY can use CI. This is to commemorate Galileo's first use of an optical telescope and topromote the International Year of Astronomy

VI2 - AUSTRALIA (Special Event)- The special callsign will be in use to celebrate Waverley's 90th anniversary. Look for their club station to be on the air from 0000z, January 24th, until 2400z, February 1st (2009).

VK0_ant- Bob, VK2ABP/VK2MRP will be working at Davis Base, Antarctica starting around 1 November until at least 7 March 2009, but could be until December.

W - The District of Columbia Amateur Radio Society (NW3DC) will be active as W3A on 17-24 January in honour of the inauguration of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama. Main activity is expected to be on 20 and 40 metres.

XU - Peter, NO2R will be active again as XU7ACY from Cambodia starting around 20 December for about 6 weeks. He will concentrate on 40,80 and 160 metres

XU - CAMBODIA Look for Tom, KC0W/ZD7X to be active from Cambodia as XU7XXX during the CQWW 160-Meter CW Contest (January 23-25th)

XU - Hiroo, JA2EZD is QRV using calls XU7AAA and XU7ADX until January 30. Activity is on 160 to 10 meters using CW and SSB.

XW1A LAOS -Larry, XW1A plans to be active from Vientiane, Laos, for the CQWW WPX SSB Contest (March 28-29th)

3D2NB & 3D2OU VITI LEVU ISLAND -Bill/N7OU and Bob/W7YAQ will be active as 3D2OU and 3D2NB respectively from Nadi, Viti Levu Island (OC-016, WLOTA LH-0055), Republic of the Fiji Islands from February 11-16th. Then, from February 17th to March 2nd they will be on Tuvalu

5H - Sigi/DL7DF and his XYL Sabine will be on holiday in Zanzibar (AF-032), February 3-13th. Look for Sigi to sign 5H1DF and be active on 160-10 meters using CW, SSB, RTTY and SSTV as often as possible.

5K0, SAN ANDRES Operators Cal/WF5W, Mike/K5UO (both members of the Texas DX Society), and Rob/HK3CW will be going to San Andres Island as a Multi/Single entry for the CQWW 160m CW Contest (January 24-25th).

CROZET ISLAND, FT/W. Florentin, F4DYW will be QRV as FT5WO from the French Alfred Faure Base, IOTA AF-008, from December 8 to November 30, 2009.

FM - MARTINIQUE ISLAND -Freddy, F5IRO has got a new assignment in Martinique (IOTA NA-107, DIFO FM-001, WLOTA LH-1041) where he is expected from September 21st to the end of February 2009.

FP - MIQUELON ISLAND -Eric, KV1J will be QRV once again from Miquelon Island (NA-032, DIFO FP-002, WLOTA LH-1417, WW Loc. GN17TC) as FP/KV1J, ARRL SSB DX Contest included. Eric will be staying at the Motel de Miquelon (formerly Maxotel) from March 4-9th.

FW - Eli/HA9RE, Laci/HA0NAR and Sara/HA9SDA will be active as FW5REfrom Wallis Island (OC-054) starting on 27-28 January until 17 February. They will operate CW, SSB and RTTY on 160-10 metres withtwo stations.

FT5WO: Crozet Islands (AF-008) 10/12-30/11/09

FR - Daniel, F5LGQ will be active as TO4IPA from Reunion Island (AF-016) on 13-31 January.

FR - REUNION ISLAND -Gerhard, OE3GEA will be active as FR/OE3GEA from Reunion Island (AF-016, DIFO FR-001, WLOTA LH-1812) between February 1st and 13th. QRV all bands, CW only.

H4 - SOLOMON ISLANDS -Bernhard, DL2GAC will be active again as H44MS from Honiara, Solomon Islands, (OC-047) between January 8th and April 28th. He works SSB only and plans to focus especially on 40m/80m.

HI - Simone, IZ5JNQ will be active as HI7/IZ5JNQ from the Dominican Republic (NA-096) between 5 January and 5 February 2009. He also plans to go and operate as HI2/IZ5JNQ from the coastal islands (NA-122) of Saona and Catalina

HI - Josep, EA3BT and his wife Nuria, EA3WL will be active as HI9/EA3BT and HI9/EA3WL from Cayo Levantado (NA-122), Dominican Republic on 21-27 January.

HK0_sa - Cal/WF5W, Mike/K5UO and Rob/HK3CW will be active as 5K0CW from San Andres Island (NA-033) on 21-28 January, including an entry in the CQ WW 160-Meter DX CW Contest (23-25 January).

KL7RRC GARELOI ISLAND -The same group that activated Chuginadak Island (NA-234) is now planning to activate Gareloi Island (NA-233, Grid AO52) in the Delarof Islands Group next year between July 21 and August 3, 2009.

OPØLE - PRINCESS ELIZABETH BASE -An official amateur call sign OP0LE is assigned to Princess Elizabeth base (IOTA AN-016, 71°57'S and 23°20'E). Paul, ON3PC will be operating from the base between December 26, 2008 and February 15, 2009.

OR3AX & OR4AX ANTARCTICA -Willy/ON5AX and XYL Magda/ON3AX will be QRV from the RV Professor Khromov (Spirit of Enderby) and from the Ross-Sea region in Antarctica between February 9th and March 10th. March 2009 with the special calls OR3AX and OR4AX.

P29 - BUKA ISLAND -Jerry, P29ZAD will be active from Buka Island (OC-135), Soloman Islands, from February 7-27th.

P4 - Peter, EA5GVH will be active as P40PZ from Aruba (SA-036) on 12-28 January. He will operate digital modes (PSK, Olivia, FeldHell,SSTV, RTTY and others) and SSB on 80-6 metres.

PJ2 - CURACAO -Look for Fred, PA1FJ to be active as PJ2/PA1FJ from the island of Curacao (SA-006, WLOTA LH-0942) between September 24th and October 7th.

R1ANR - NOVO RUNWAY BASE -Oleg, R1ANF will be active as R1ANR at the Novo Runway Base (AN-016, WAP MNB-06) from November 28, 2008 to February 25, 2009. Novo Runway (70°49'S 11°37'E) is the ice runway near the Russian Novolzarevskaya Station.

S2 - The expedition to St. Martin's Island (AS-127) is nowexpected to take place on 16-22 January. Six operators will be active as S21DX on 10, 12, 15, 17, 20, 40 and 80 metres SSB andRTTY.

S7 - Jan, DL7JAN, will be active as S79JF from Praslin Island (AF-024) between Februrary 22nd and March 6th (2009). Activity will be on 40-10 meters using CW, SSB, RTTY and possibly PSK31.

T2, TUVALU (OC-015) Operators Bill/N7OU and Bob/W7YAQ will be active between February 17th and March 2nd.

T46G CUBA -Operators Orelvis/CO6LC, Joaquin/CM6RCR, Yordany/CM6YAC, Carlos/CO6CAC, Luis/CO6LP and posibility others will be active as T46G from Santa Clara, Cuba (IOTA NA-015, WLOTA LH-0032), for the ARRL SSB DX Contest (March 4-5th

T8 - Mike/JA6EGL (T88SM), Yas/JA6UBY (T88CP), Yu/JE6DND (T88HK) and Hiro/JA6KYU (T88HS) will be active from Koror Island, (OC-009) Palau on 16-18 January. They plan to operate CW and SSB on 80-10 metres.

TO4 - GLORIOSO - (Postponed) After many years of effort the permissions to operate as TO4Gxx (TBA) from the Glorioso Islands (AF-011, DIFO FR-004, WW Loc. LH38PK) have been granted. This operation will take place between September 20th and October 15th.

TO5 - MARTINIQUE -Dim, UT5UGR will be QRV in the ARRL DX CW Contest (February 21-22nd) as a Single-Op/High-Power entry with the special callsign TO5WA from the station of Laurent, FM5BH on the island of Martinique (NA-107, DIFO FM-001, WLOTA LH-1041).

TU - IVORY COAST -Phil, F4EGS will be active from Abidjan, Ivory Coast, using the call sign TU8/F4EYS from December 26, 2008 to February 28, 2009. QRV on all bands, with focus on 160 and 80 meters, using CW and RTTY.

V8 - BRUNEI -Sam, G4OHX reports he will fly to Brunei (OC-088) February 11th and will be QRV as V8FHX until February 23rd.

VK - VI2BV90 is the special callsign issued to the Waverley Amateur Radio Society (www.vk2bv.org), the oldest continuously licensed amateur radio club in Australia, to celebrate its 90th anniversary. The special callsign will be in use by the club station from 24 January to 1 February.

VK2LNX and VK2FSNJ: Maatsuyker Island (OC-233) - October-April

VK9L LORD HOWE ISLAND -Members of Oceania Amateur Radio DX Group Inc. will spend 10 days on Lord Howe Island for the 2009 CQ WPX Contest. Bill, VK4FW, announced this past week that the operation will take place between March 24th and April 3rd.

VP9 - BERMUDA Kurt, W6PH, will be active as VP9/W6PH again for the 2009 ARRL DX CW Contest (February 21-22nd)

VP8_fal- Ghis, ON5NT has retired and says that "it's time now to start travelling with the XYL". He will be touring the Falkland Islands (SA-002) from 31 January to 7 February, and will operate as VP8DLQ

VP5, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLAND David, WJ2O, will once again be active from Jodi's, VP5JM, "Hamlet" on Providenciales Island (NA-002) as VP5DF during the ARRL DX CW Contest February 21-22nd

ZF1A - GRAND CAYMAN ISLAND -Look for Verne/ZF1DX and Dick/K2UFT to be active as ZF1A from Savannah, Grand Cayman Island (NA-016, WLOTA LH-1042) in the CQWW 160-Meter CW Contest (January 24-25th).

ZF - CAYMAN ISLANDS NA-016 John, K6AM, will be active as ZF2AM during the ARRL DX CW Contest (February 21-22th

ZD8N - ASCENSION ISLAND -Steve, G3ZVW will be active again as ZD8N from Ascension Island (AF-003) from January 12-27th. Activity will be on CW, RTTY and SSB, mainly on the HF bands (30-10 meters).

ZK2 - Chris, ZL1CT will be active as ZK2V from Niue (OC-040) between 16 May and 20 June. His 5-week expedition aims to to give as many stations as possibile their first QSO with ZK2. Resources are limited, and he will operate maily on 80, 40, 20 and 15 metres CW and SSB, with some activity on 30, 17 and 12 metres and some RTTY.

ZM - NEW ZEALAND -Jacky/ZL3CW, Aki/ZL1GO, Romeo/ZL2RU and Ken/ZL1AIH will be active from New Zealand (OC-036, WLOTA LH-0069) as ZM1A during the ARRL DX SSB Contest (March 7-8th)

ZS8T - MARION ISLAND -Petrus, ZS6GCM will be active as ZS8T from Marion Island (AF-021) between May 9, 2008 and May 1, 2009. Look for activity on all bands and modes.
